Obituary
Mrs. Illa Ruth Tuten, age 74 went to her Heavenly Home at the residence of her daughter in Beaufort, N.C. with her loving family by her side.
Funeral services will be held Thursday March 23 at 3:00 pm at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home in Hartsville, SC. Rev. Jeff Williams and Rev. Mike Whitt will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home in Hartsville, SC.
Mrs. Tuten was born in Hartsville a daughter of the late Blease Bullard and Nora Ellen Bullard. Ruth battled Frontotemporal Lobe Dementia, but it never stopped her from giving her love and the best hugs ever. We lost a beloved wife, mother, and grandma on March 17, 2023. Next to her husband,her children and grandchildren were her life. She was often known to take on a few others as well. To know her was to love her. She welcomed all with open arms to her home.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 47 years Ira “Joe” Tuten, Hartsville; one son, Johnny Laverne (Rhonda) Hoffman, Jr, Hartsville; one daughter, Ruth Lanora (Bill) Morris, Davis, N.C.; grandchildren, Tyler (Conner) Ajay Howle, Christian Howle, Chase Hoffman and Jake Isgett, Hartsville; Barry “BJ” (Logan) Sims and Jessie (Luke) Lyles, Florence; Erin (Colby) Johnson, Justin (Deana) Morris, Meredeth Morris, Noah (Destiny) Morris, Davis, N.C.; great grandchildren, Harrison Lyles, Jack Lyles, Hoffman Sims, Hollis Sims of Florence; Weslyn Howle, Hartsville; Colton Johnson, Alyson Johnson, Presley Johnson, Graham Morris and Collins Morris of Davis, NC.; one sister, Patricia Bullard of Port Richey, FL; Niece; “Bonus Daughter” Dana Bullard (Nick) Plummer of Hartsville; many other nieces, nephews and extended family that she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents Ruth was preceded in death by a daughter Alicia Michelle Tuten; brothers, William “Buck” Bullard and Blease Bullard; sisters, Grace Locke of Florida, Annie Sue Bullard, Mary Ellen Franklin.
